Support for my sister - new baby has VSD

Thread Starter
I would love to connect my sister with other moms whose babies have had VSD and had surgery to correct it. Her baby is 6 days old, and so of course my sister is a mess.

Please PM me your info if you are willing to exchange some encouraging e-mails with her and I will pass it along.

Thanks.

My DD had VSD at birth. We did not need surgery but it ended up closing on it's own. If it is minor they usually do close on their own. I'm sorry if this is not helpful I understand how painful it is to find out there is a complication at birth. My prayers go out to your sister in hopes that her new baby will not need surgery.

Proud Mommy to Alexis (6) and Dylan (3)

My youngest was born with a VSD and, thankfully, it closed on its own before she was six months old. She had no ill effects at all despite a rather loud murmur.

Sending healing vibes to your sister and her little one.

My ds was born with a VSD and was detected shortly after birth. The pediatric cardiologist said that there was no way that the VSD would close on it's own due to the size and the location of the hole. DS had open heart surgery at 5 months old when he was failing to thrive. He is now almost 9 years old - no limitations - and is living a very normal life. He is very, very active with sports and is very healthy.

There is a heart thread on this board. Maybe she would like to check it out, I'll come back to link it.

Here it is:
