Water birth

Hi,

Does anybody have any knowledge, experience, or thoughts on having a water birth with HPV?

I have been searching in books, online, etc, but have found not much info.

Most sources say that there is a low chance of a baby catching HPV from the mother, but I am wondering if being in the water for the birth would increase possible contamination?

Thank you for any responses!

Do you have vaginal/perineal/anal warts?

When did you test positive last for HPV?

I dont have any specific information, but have never heard of a contraindication with HPV and water birth. Holy Cow, for that matter, statistically about 90% of women in the USA have some form of HPV, I know I was in a room with 10 women the other day and it came up, turns out 8 of us have tested positive for HPV. So if you think about it that way, if it was a problem, we should know by now and most waterbirths would not be happening.

I've never even heard of anyone considering it a contraindication or even risk factor and in the past I have worked with some mega high intervention OB/GYNs and midwives for that matter. I wouldn't worry about it. The only thing I have seen with VERY severe condyloma from HPV is vaginal bleeding during pregnancy from cervical condyloma and poor tissue integrity and severed tearing on the perineum...but I mean, these were bad cases like the kind you see in textbooks and think 'wow, why didn't someone try to treat those before they got so bad?' type looking ones-not just mild cases or even asymptomatic cases.

Might want to consider homeopathic Thuja. It's the most common wart remedy, and works really well. You can get it as an ointment (1x/day after washing) or use by mouth, 6x, 12, or 30 C 2 x/day for 3 days. Should be gone in less than 14 days.
