When are you starting solids?

When do you plan to start solids? 4 months? 6?

I started as soon as his teeth came - 4.5months. He wasn't really into it. Just a taste here and there. But now he's ravenous.

I did not start with either until 7.5 or 8 months. They showed no interest.

We waited until six months as that is the current recommendation. Our pediatrician was also on board with the six months. Actually she 'told' us breast milk only for six months.

Then we tried a few bites and no luck
six months + 2 weeks, still not much luck
six months + 3 weeks, breeast milk & rice cereal and she ate the whole little bowl.

She's been a solid food fan for the last two months definitely preferring food over breast milk, nursing or bottles.

After 7 months, at least.

From 6months i will begin baby led weaning. I'd consider it earlier IF baby was showing a lot of signs (teeth, able to sit unassisted, reaching for and holding food and bringing it to their mouth etc.) but my DD certainly didn't - she got her first tooth at 9months!.

My almost six month old has been grabbing food since he started grabbing. He's had teeth since 3.5 months. He LOVES watching people eat and his tongue thrust reflex went away some time ago. We have absolutely no history of food allergies in our family.

So I feel kind of like I should be feeding him solids already, buuuut I've only offered him tiny tastes here and there so far. He has a WBV on April 10th and I figure we'll talk to his pediatrician about it then and decide if we're ready for it yet.

I waited till 6 mos. And while he's fascinated, he's not really interested in eating it... he more wants to play with it. Which is fine with me. We give him a bite every other day or so. When he decides to actually eat it and not spit it out, we'll move on to the next step.

6 months or later. I give her a lick of a spoon here or there, and she gets really confused by the taste of something that's not breastmilk.

I'll also give her food to chew on, but not for eating- like a while leaf of romaine or a carrot- she'll gnaw for a bit then throw it on the floor for the dogs to gobble up.

at least 6 months.. probably closer to 8/9 or even 10/11 months though.

My babies are early eaters, both were 4.5 months. DD literally ripped a ham sandwich out of my hand and started gnawing on it, DS shoved his hand in a jar of pb while I was trying to hold him and make a sandwich. Both could sit well and I did a little cereal and fruit purees, I also love mesh anti-choke bags, I put chicken, steamed veggies, basically our dinner stuff in those. Love them, and so have both of my kids.

we waited as close to 6 months as seemed right. i think she had been grabbing food and trying to shove it in her mouth for a few weeks but i was waiting for her to sit-up better.

we started maybe a week shy of 6 months. puree-ing was a waste of time, she went straight for the chunks. in fact, one of her first foods was meatloaf after she pulled the entire 9x13 pyrex up to her chair.

I started when both of mine showed interest, somewhere around 5mo. By 6mo both of my kids were eating everything they could. They did both get teeth around 4mo, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I wanted to wait longer, but I think we will start any day now (my LO is 5.5months). . .not only is he interested and cutting his first teeth and getting the hang of sitting-up, BUT recently he has become angry every time he sees us eating and we won't share! Really, he has been watching us eat for a while now and suddenly he's gotten it that we are sharing. Every time DH or I puts anything into our mouths he starts to fuss and grab for it like a mad man. Sheesh! So, bananas and avocado here we come.

I started both my kids at 6 months adjusted for prematurity.

Peepers refuses to be spoon-fed. Even now, at 9.5 months adjusted, she will gag and sometimes throw up if I try to feed her solids. But she will self-feed. In the past few weeks, she has finally started to eat more than a couple of Cheerios or puffs at a sitting, so I need to figure out other things for her to eat. She doesn't like slippery food, so she won't eat things like pasta, fruit, steamed veggies, etc. She has 4 teeth and has been sitting up for 5 months, so showed all signs of readiness...but really wasn't ready.

Our guy is 5 months, and we decided to let him taste things here and there and go with it, as he likes it. This decision came, after he ate part of our rosemary bush, that's in a pot on the kitchen floor.

No sooner than 6 months.

My 5 month old shows every sign of readiness except for the ability to sit unassisted. So, if he's sitting and ready an interested next month, will offer him some food when we are eating, but I'm in no hurry.

oh that's cute.

DS just turned 6mos and we started a few days back -just here and there maybe every couple days or so we'll do it once for the day. we've tried some applesauce and bananas. he's been watching us eat eagerly for at least a couple solid months now. he's funny he doesn't really like it. with apple sauce especially at first he makes faces until he gets used to the taste but he wants more even so. bananas he liked a bit better but he'll only take about 4-6 tiny tastes and then he wants to play with the spoon. we got him a BPA free self feeding spoon that i can't wait to try.
