Met our new Dr yesterday

My 16 month old had an awful cold for over a week and spiked a 103 fever yesterday and was super cranky so I was guessing it may have gone to his ears. We just moved here two weeks ago and it is a tiny town with only one small family care clinic. I was feeling a little nervous, but I loved the Doctor! She asked about how much he had been eating and I said he hasn't really been eating much table food, but has been nursing like crazy. She said that is fabulous and it is the best thing I can do for him

It made me so happy and I told her before we left (he did have an ear infection poor guy) how much I appreciated the support for breastfeeding past a year. I just wanted to share with you Mamas this little positive experience we had with breastfeeding a toddler!

It is great to find a doctor who is supportive of extended nursing !

We went for our 12 month check up a few weeks ago and was surprised that the Dr encouraged me to nurse for as long as DD and I both wanted! She did add at the end that if she was starting kindergarten and was still nursing then it might be time to stop! But oh well one small victory!
Was still excited that I can tell nosey people that my Dr recommends that I nurse as long as we are both enjoying it! Such as my Mom, Dad, Grandparents, random strangers, distant relatives, and anyone with the nerve to tell me I should have weaned her at X age!!
Happy to hear you found a Dr with similar views!

That is so awesome! At my baby DD's 2 month visit a couple of weeks ago, I was chatting with the nurse afterwards and she said she nursed her now grown son till 2.5!

Yay! We had the same experience. Her exact words at our 12mo wbv were, "Of course she still needs breastmilk. She's a baby, not a calf". We went in this week when DD had a high fever and she stressed that breastfeeding was the best thing for her.

The ped dentist on the other hand...
