Conceiving over 40?

I'll be forty in about a month and a half. I have one child, a little girl who is 4 months old. I conceived her at age 38, almost 39.

So tell me...how difficult is it to conceive once you pass that 40 year mark? I've read Taking Charge of Your Fertility and tried to use the fertility awareness method to get pregnant last year. I ended up getting PG the one month I didn't bother with charting and DH and I only DTD one time over a couple of week time period (we both had terrible, long lasting colds at that time). I never could get a good feel for when I was ovulating though.

I've contacted a teacher for the Creighton Method to see if someone can teach me how to chart my fertility. I've just ordered 2 books from Amazon; The Fertile Female and Making Babies: A Proven 3-Month Program for Maximum Fertility.

hi jennifer- there is a whole thread here with mom's over 40. you should check it out there- they will have tons of info for you, and lots of support too, even though you still have 6 wks or so before it's officially the big 4-0 for you. it's the one that waturmama is the threadkeeper of.
