Thus I don't consider him a toddler, so I've posted here.
I would be less worried if he were doing one or the other, but now I'm worried that he's sort of been at the same developmental stage for a few months now. He was a slow crawler (about 10 months). As for walking, he can pull himself up and cruise, but he's always on his tiptoes. It's like he wants to get up as high as he can. (I will admit to having used a walker, which may have contributed to this problem, but it was a gift from neighbors and I didn't know how bad it could be. We haven't used it for months.) He will stand flat-footed, but he won't take any steps this way. Apparently DH was like this as a baby, and his mom put shoes on him to fix it. But our chiropractor said that shoes aren't actually good for a baby learning to walk. At home, we leave them off. We put them on when we go out, but when we're out he doesn't always have much of a chance to try walking.
As for talking, he can sign (bath, milk, dad, hungry, and a few others he's made up on his own). He babbles, and he might be on the verge of saying "no." He knows it goes with head shaking, which he does a lot, like when he's not hungry anymore.
It's just such a pain when friends and relatives are like, "wow, 14 months, he must be walking and talking now!" and of course, I have to say no, he's not yet. Do I need to get him checked out?
Sorry so long. TIA!
