saw that. you know, after using a ring sling for so long, i saw that infantino thing in the store and thought it just didnt look right. i thought "why mess with it?". traditional cultures dont feel the need to add a 3pt harness and elastic, yk?

is that the same style as the primax baby bag? i got one for caden and was planning on using it again when i have another baby but if there not safe then i think i'll just buy myself a moby wrap or something similar.

I just looked up the primax baby bag, and yeah, they look like they are the same style. Moby's are awesome though!!

Thank Goodness!! I was gifted one of these with DS1, and tried it a couple times before buying my Hotslings. It's awful!! DS hung way too low, down by my hips, and I had to hold his back and neck to keep him comfy. I knew nothing about babywearing back then and almost gave up that thing was so awful. I'm so glad I found other options!

That's wonderful to hear, and much overdue.

I had only sort of heard of slings when my dd was born, but when I mentioned I was going to look for one to buy to my mother's friend, she offered me one she had. She dropped it off at my mom's house and when I first saw it, it certainly didn't look like other pictures I'd seen of slings with rings. It was a horrible infantino bag. I tried to put my dd in it and she freaked, her whole face was covered and she looked pretty uncomfortable. I took her right out and never used it. I certainly love my other baby carriers though, and it's a shame when they all get lumped together with a product like this.

I made the mistake of reading the comments though.

Yes, the Premaxx is also a bag sling and should never, ever be used with a baby under four months old -- it pushes baby chin to chest into that C shaped position. It's not part of the recall but all bag slings are similarly risky for newborns:

Just an FYI if you are interested in doing the same thing, I just searched all my local craigslists & flagged the infantino sling ads as prohibited items. I was going to post a warning ad as well, but someone else had already done it.

Hallelujah!

It's about time!

May other bag slings quickly follow.

heard this on the radio this morning and 'woohoo'ed in the car

I was going out with a friend yesterday to take DD1 out to ride her new bike and she offered to carry the baby if I needed to help DD1
I said sure, I'll bring the sling if you want to use it and she said "oh, no, those make me nervous, I saw a woman carrying her baby with one and it was hanging down by her hip! How is that safe?
So I showed her the baby in the Moby and then in a Maya wrap and she said "well, those are different, it was a regular sling that I saw before."
I had to explain that these were the regular carriers and the bag slings were new and not safe.
I'm so glad these were recalled and I wish all of them were!

I am just so sad that three precious babies are dead. My heart aches for their mothers.
