Experience with UI Fam Care No Liberty?

Hey mamas,

I'm looking to switch to the North Liberty Family Practice center. I can't keep driving my chronically sick toddler to Iowa City! Any experience with the docs there? Anyone to stay away from? We do a delayed vax schedule but most docs we've seen are ok with it, it's pretty conventional. Otherwise... looking for someone nice.

We see Dr. Jason Powers at UI North Liberty. He was my doctor for a few years before we started taking DS to him. Midwife Laura is the only other person we've seen there so not sure who to avoid.

He's not super crunchy or anything but is nice and respectful of our choices. He's good with our son and has a child of his own that was born within the last few years. He knew all about Fuzzi Bunz and didn't go anywhere near our son's penis. I was pretty excited about deciding to take DS there after my horrible experiences with the pediatrics dept. at UIHC. I should have just taken him there to begin with!

Good to know, thank you. We took DD there for an ear infection last week and they were nice, although they claimed to have NEVER SEEN someone using a ring sling before and I got tons of questions about that (including "didn't they say those kill babies?").

We saw Dr Hegde who was nice but I don't know if she's particularly crunchy.

Oh.... I did hear some not so great things about Katharine Saunders there.

Just to update my own thread, it's an ok clinic. The nice thing is that it's small and you can see your regular doctor often on short notice, even for acute care appts. But the quality of doc is pretty iffy. I liked Dr. Woodhead, a pediatrician, and would take my kids back to see him. Their PA is pretty good, too. But I'm not crazy about the other docs. I've heard good things about Powers but he seems pretty busy. Gretchen Vigil is also seeing people there, she's supposed to be pretty open to selective vax.
