really curly hair help. am i doom with thin hair

I am mix(black and french). I have always have thin curly hair, my hair has about 2 different hair type. The top middle to the back middle is more curly/kinky and thick enough to braid ok, but my sides and the hair from my ears down is thinner, lighter and doesn't braid as good. I would mostly wear my hair in one. Or twist the front.

The good news: I no longer use commercial shampoos. Right now I use Bronner's Castile Soap and ACV for conditioner and my hair is now longer than it has ever been(which is just a inch or two above bra line and it is mostly the hair from ear down that reaches that lenght) and a little thicker. My hair (and my children hair) absorb oil really fast it is almost like we didnt put none.

Anyways I am trying to find more I can do for my hair. Can it get thicker and longer(the time it was at its thickest was when I was pregnant with DS, but then it dropped, now it is at its longest). I also have danndruff issues all my life(so does my siblings and other family members). I heard horsetail herb might work.

Any advice or experiences?

TIA

The only suggestion i can make is since your hair absorbs oil so well and you have dandruff--only wash your hair when it gets oily. Let those oils do their work. Have you tried using water-only?

There are professional products that i was taught (in beauty school) will actually "amplify" (ahem) your hair, but i doubt that...really. I don't see how it's possible. I think all you can do is take really good care of your hair and see what happens.

I've never heard of herbs thickening your hair....hmmm....

I only wash my hair about 1 every 2 weeks. The only time my hair will get oily of course is because I may put too much oil in it and then it just looks weighed down which I don't know if I am suppose to do that. Other than that my hair will be seriously dry all the time.

What about if every time you showered (or every other time or whatever), you massage your scalp like you're washing it, but only with water, and condition each time? The massaging would loosen the dandruff and the conditioner would quench your hair. You can even use a little lotion on your hair (or hair creme) after the shower. If your hair does start to look oily or weighed down, THEN you shampoo. Since i haven't seen your hair, i don't know for sure what you should do, just some suggestions.

I post some pics. My hair is different when it has stuff in it compared to after it is washed. I can't wash my hair every other day that will be too time consuming and drying.

The look of my hair at times can confuse people as it seems like it is half straigthen, mostly from the top part because it is always pulled back in a ponytail. But the texture changes once it is washed, I guess because my hair is thin and fine that it gets weighed down fast but yet try if I don't put anything in it.

ETA: Here is a link with my hair weighed down. When it is washed it has tighter girls, tangles quicks and will be very dry.

You described it very well--that's what i was expecting your hair to look like.
So would conditioning only weigh down your hair?

Because if i were you, i'd wash with conditioner only. Wash with a tiny bit of shampoo--near your scalp only--when your hair gets greasy (if it does--if it doesn't, just keep washing with water/conditioner as needed).

Simply put, i've learned to listen to my hair and my skin and only do the bare minimum--i wash (i no-poo with baking soda) once it gets greasy only. On my face, i just use a wet washcloth. And i've had no problems with dryness or dandruff that way, as i did in the past, because i'm letting the oils do their thing. (My acne has improved, as well--BONUS!)

In beauty school, we also did scalp treatments with cholesterol, where we slathered our hair with it, wrapped it up and left it for about 20 minutes, then washed it out. You could try that with oil, eggs, mayo, i'm sure. Probably once a month.
