need carpet cleaning help

Me again... I try to clean up when these kids eat but it is hard sometimes to do. The carpet has little food stains and just needs to clean(I vacuum every day). I was thinking to rent a steam cleaner and but vinegar in there to clean, is this a good idea.. Is there something else I can do?

I've heard vinegar can set stains, but at this point i'm starting to feel like i'm spreading a bad rumor...perhaps someone can verify. ??

You could rent/borrow/buy a steamer. I bought a quick steamer for about $60.
