Help? Rec. a top-loading washing machine.

After a 4 month ordeal of endless trial and error, we have given up on trying to wash cloth diapers in our new LG front-loading washer. Different detergents, different wash routines, adding wet towels to the load, endless rinses, RLR, we tried it all, and nothing was worth seeing a bleeding ammonia burn on my son's penis.

Mercifully, this story has a happy ending. Sears has made an exception to their return policy and we can pick out a replacement. Anything we we want up to the value of the first one: $594, or we can pay if we need to go over. If we get a cheaper one we don't get the difference. Fair enough.

I'm trying to research and trying to find reviews on certain models specifically in regards to cloth diapering, and I'm having a hard time (which is how I got stuck with the first one, it had great reviews, but none mentioned cloth diapers one way or the other).

Any help? It needs to be something currently on the market at Sears. Thanks!

When I ditched my FL to get a TL to end my diaper drama I looked for one with nice big "fins" on the agitator just like the good old fashioned washers. I got a Roper washer it was cheap and has what I was looking for.

I didn't research reliability or anything by I have the drier from the Roper set (I bought the Roper drier when I got my FL) so I have had it several yrs and havent had any problems and have had my washer about 18 months without issues as well.

I tried to find a TL with a hot rinse option but didn't seem to have any luck.

Good luck in your search, It was so much nicer using the TL I will never go back to a FL!

I had a Maytag that I really liked. But really the main difference I've noticed with washers is how many setttings I have. The current washer I have (now renting) has such simple settings that I can't get a long enough wash cycle. It works fine but I liked my old Maytag set with better options for setting. It seemed to have a longer wash and rinse cycle. Also I like the washers with truly large capacity. I know I've seem some that say they have an extra large capacity but the tub is really not that big, so compare what your looking at.

The large fins mentioned by the pp is also a good thing. I've never had a washer with a hot rinse setting but my old washer had a hot wash/ warm rinse setting and I did use that for my dipes.
