10 month old, sun hat that stays on?

My nearly 10 month old needs a good sun hat that he can't get off. It's just not an option for me to stay in the shade with him, I work in our garden and do chicken chores and am outside all day with my 3.5 year old, all with my babe on my back. He will NOT keep a hat on and while we do have the kind of skin that takes a tan well and we don't tend to burn (the benefits of being a mutt huh?) he REALLY needs some sun protection on his little head and face.

So did any of you ever find one that stayed put? My older boy just left them on when he was a babe, this one refuses and happily rips them ALL off with a giggle!

eta: I've tried wearing a super wide brim sun hat myself but he reaches up and pulls that off too. If I tie it down really well he ends up strangling me. I call him a Grabby Grabberton!

My kid loves to remove the hats as well, and we have had good luck with this Hannah Andersson sunhat.

I feel your pain...my kid is so fair I'm afraid he's going to burn in the shade.

We have a Zutano hat similar to that one but it's a struggle to get it tied (he is seriously a speed grabber) and he manages to get it untied no matter what. I have had a bit better success tying it on the side but ideally a top tie (is there such a thing?) or .... I don't know! help! haha!

I just keep hoping ds outgrows the habit this summer. Last summer I spent all my time holding the hat or backtracking to find where he had dropped it (I usually wear him on my back when we walk anywhere).

We had a wide brimmed hat from gap which we used last summer. It had a chin strp that velcroed under the chin. It worked really well. Perhaps your DS might like to have a say in his hat? We had terrible troubles with winter hats until we were given one that my SIL knitted and DD has loved it ever since and wouldn't pull it oof nearly as much as her others.
