Wash routine for a toddler (i.e. no poopy diapers)

Hi, I just recently switched to cloth for my 19 month old. 90% of the time he will poop on the potty, so the diapers are usually pee-soiled only.

Right now, I rinse each diaper immediately on changing in cold water. I store them in a dry pail, and when ready to wash I do a cold rinse, followed by a hot wash, using a little all free and clear.

Does this sound about right? Should I be stripping as well or is that only for poopy diapers? We use prefolds and AIO's if that makes a difference...

Thanks for any advice

My toddler will only poo in her diapers, kids are so funny.

We have been cloth diapering from the beginning. I never rinse pee diapers, I just throw them in the pail. I spray poo off of poo diapers if we have them. Then throw that in the dry pail. Come wash day, I toss everything into the washer and run a cold rinse and then wash on Hot cycle with Soap nuts. I never used free and clear... I would only say make sure there is no suds in the rinse cycle, if there is do another one. The only time you need to strip your diapers are if you have yeast issues, stink issues, chemical build up issues or if they are no absorbing right (usually a chemical issue).

Ok thanks, sounds like I'm on the right track then...I always do a double rinse with the wash cycle so that usually takes care of all the suds. Thanks!

I never rinse pee dipes either. I just wash in hot and usually don't worry about a pre-rinsing at all. I use BioKleen detergent and a little vinegar to help with stink.
