What books are you readin to help you ttc and get ready for a birth?

Are you having a hospital. Birth?
Doc ?
Midwife?
Home. Birth with midwife?
Uc?

Which do you want and why?

I would like a home waterbirth with a midwife present not " all up in my business" does that make sence? I would want to uc but am not that confident I could detect a problem if one arose. I'm readin ina may gaskins book and some midwifery books. I have all the books on the dona reading list too. I want to be a doula one day.

Your turn! What do you want?

I'm not reading anything yet. I am hoping to deliver at the same birth center where I had DS. I had a great delivery with a midwife. I labored in a tub until it was time to push, which was really helpful for me. I could've stayed in the tub for pushing, but I wasn't able to find a comfortable pushing position in the tub. I didn't tear or anything. My midwife did a really good job of giving me space when I needed it, and being there & supporting me when I needed that. She was awesome.

If I lived closer to a hospital I'd be really interested in a home birth.

When we get pregnant, I'll re-read Ina May's book and Birthing From Within. We also took Bradley classes with our first pregnancy, and we might do a "refresher" course if we feel like we need it.

I plan on having a UC

after 1 pretty good hospital birth and not great 2nd hospital birth where i had a natural birth i realized i could do it without needing a doctor telling me when to push and then being expected to pay to share a room right after giving birth i left AMA when my son was 6hours old the room was so bad.

I plan on reading both these books again Ina May's Guide To Childbirth & The Thinking Woman's Guide To A Better Birth

Not reading anything this time. Once I'm actually preggo, we'll probably read our Bradley book again. Will have another HBAC with a MW.

I don't *plan* on reading any books. But if I run across one that sounds great, I'll get it.

We will more than likely have a hospital birth. I did about 80% of my last birth at a birthing center, and ended up transfering. I am too scared to be stuck in that position again, so we will just do it all at the hospital. I plan on not using drugs...that being said, if I have to, I'm going to try and just do an IV drug. And if I get another baby stuck like last time, then I will go epidural route again.

We do however plan to tour hospitals this time. I want to interview Dr's and see how they practice. I also would like to hire a doula/midwife...or find a hospital that already have them on staff. One good thing about going the hospital route is that DH works for one. And they will be on their best behaviors.

I'm reading everything I can get my hands on. Right now, I'm reading "The Complete Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth." It's interesting and well written and informative.

What kind of birth do I want ideally? A healthy baby delivered in my house after quick, painless labor. Realistically? I'll have a hospital birth but with a midwife. There are no birth centers close to me, and I'm too panicky to deliver my first at home. I just have to find one that I like and trust, which might be challenging.

OMGosh! I love you! That's the funniest thing I've read! I just finished the 3rd and 4th books...it only took me 2 weeks to read both. I want to re-read them...

Hopefully if we conceive again, a midwife, and up in the air for a birth. Maybe home. . .but I doubt it. Yes, I very well know when to push. . .I certainly don't think any of us go to hospital because that confuses us. . . but damned if I know what to do if my child doesn't come out perfectly or needs more help then I had prepared for. I wish we had a birthing center.

I felt pressured, especially given my values and where I live, to have a home birth. I think I had some sort of idea that it would make me more of a woman, or better than the women who had epidurals or Csections.

My number one mistake with my daughter was getting wrapped up in the dreamy, soft music playing, warm water, lovey idea of a homebirth. I was so into the Business of Being Born. She had other ideas and so did my body and it went pretty much the opposite way. I beat myself up about it for months and got hit with PPD pretty hard as a result of feeling like I failed myself and her. It robbed me of precious months enjoying life with a newborn instead of reflecting on what I didn't have as part of my daughter's birth.

So in short, I'll have some ideas, but definitely will be very flexible next time and damned if I'll feel like any less of a woman. I'm a hell of a mom.

Not reading anything right now... Will more than likely re-read Birthing from Within and Thinking Woman's Guide once I'm pregnant. And of course Spiritual Midwifery. Am planning on another home water birth with a midwife. I'd never be brave enough to have a hospital birth. Scary!
