Mag and Vit D recs for me and the kids?

My doctor recommended that we all go on Vitamin D(3) and magnesium supplements. He mentioned "Just D" drops for the baby... but what would be a good Vitamin D brand for me and my almost-4-year-old? How about magnesium for each of us? The baby is almost 7 months old and is BF only, though I'm starting to give him a sippy cup. Would I do a powder for him? A pill for me? Powder for everyone?

Bonus if it's available through Frontier.

My co-op had only one brand of vit D3, which is in drops. We give DD 1 drop which is 400 IU. I have been taking vit D3 for a few years and have settled on 5,000 IU as my optimum dose. I do get tested every 3 or 6 months which I think is important because you can get too much vit D which is not good.

Can't help with magnesium .

Carlsons Vitamin D drops are great they have 400ius,1000ius and 2,000 as well. I buy this from vitacost or iherb
You can try natural Calm for Mag it works for most.

We use solgar -- 1000 IU per cap for adults and give kids Carlson's fish oil (getting about 800 IU per day). A;so, here's a good article on preventing vitamin D deficiency naturally (hint: some sun is good): Is vitamin D deficiency casting a cloud over your health?

Here is a link for Crystal cal-mag+ by KAL. It has a 2: 1 ratio of calcium to magnesium, plus some vitamin D. I don't love the taste, but I don't mind it either. I can usually sneak half a serving into the kids smoothie. Too bad it has to have a lemon flavor.

For me right now, I take Carlson's cod liver oil and a separate magnesium glycinate. I think it is also by KAL. I get all my vitamins from the vitamin shoppe b/c they have sales and you can earn credit to their store if you get enough "points." Everyone is different, but my vitamin D levels did go up from taking cod liver oil. Plus I stopped using sunscreen. I'll probably wear a hat this summer to protect my face, unless I'm at the beach or pool...then I'll really lather up.
