Hello

I understand hiccups are normal for babies under 12 months, but lately my 24 month old have been getting hiccups daily one day it was like every hour. What could cause this? She seems cranky too. She puts her fingers in her mouth. She says boo boo. I think her 2 year molars are coming in but I dont feel or see them. I'm worried about the hiccups.

I used to think hiccups were normal too until DS (15 months) got them along with many other symptoms and I discovered they were related to his gut issues causing him to react to all sorts of foods. Whenever we did well on our diet, all his symptoms started to improve, including the hiccups, and whenever we fell off the wagon, his symptoms started to come back. So that's one possible cause. Reestablishing his good flora is what I have been doing along with avoiding the trigger foods until his gut heals.

I thought that excessive hiccups are a sign of digestion issues.

Thanks for the replies. That is interesting. I give her plain yogurt everyday though. Maybe she is eating too much? She hiccups once a day at least. It never really happened before.

Also her lymph nodes are VERY SWOLLEN on the sides of her neck especially her right. She may be fighting a cold since I just caught a cold. She is active but cranky.

I've read that prenatally, babies who hiccup a lot often have food intolerances once they're born (before they're born?), it fit with my DD. Her symptoms changed over time, though the only time she hiccupped was when she was still in-utero.
