Looking for advice? Nothing helping for pain?

Just thought I would hop on and ask. My son complained about having an ear ache last night to the point where he was sobbing. I gave him some Mullien drops and put a warm pack on it and it did nothing. We tried a poultice of cut up onions nothing. So we finally gave him children's advil and it did nothing so we gave a little more and still nothing.

He was up all night long crying and in pain then his stomach hurt and now this morning he says he feels nauseous and that it really hurts bad to open his jaw?

He is still crying in pain our ND doesn't open till 9 so I thought I would check here to seek out some advice.

I'd be concerned about mastoiditis. Does it hurt if you apply gentle pressure to the mastoid? I'd get him seen ASAP, mama. If for nothing else to rule that out. It doesn't generally come on that fast, but it's possible that he was having discomfort and didn't voice it. There are always exceptions to the rule, as well.

Is he running a fever?

My son had mastoiditis. If you touch behind the ear is it painful or does it feel spongy or swollen. Infections can spread and that's what I'd worry about with the severe pain and jaw stuff. Spreading is very serious and it's fortunately rare but it doe shappen.
