I'm desperate, sleep deprived, crabby, and exhausted. I can't get my 4 month old to stay sleeping! Whether I lay him down sleeping, or drowsy but awake, he starts crying, then screaming. I pick him up, he falls back asleep, and we repeat. He is getting plenty of breastmilk, and will fall asleep nursing, but then wake right up - every time. I SO need this baby to sleep! Even at night, he will go maybe 2 hrs at most. I don't believe in letting him cry, and even if I did, he is too young for sleep traing. What can I do to so both of us can get some sleep?? I try to read his tired signals, use a routine, and I always try to get him down 90 min. to 2 hrs after he last woke. The trouble is that he probably only slept a short time for his previous "nap", so he is going in already tired. HELP!

my 3.5 year old will not sleep without me. Recently, only on certain occasions, I can slip away once she is deeply asleep - no REM eye movements - but not always. So I either wear her during naps if I need to be awake and doing things or I lie next to her and read or nap. At night we co sleep because otherwise she's never stay asleep.

Right with you mamma! My 4 month old (well....1.5 months adjusted) just in the last couple of weeks will not sleep unless I am holding him. Today he got a 12 minute nap in before the crying started. If I am holding him, he sleeps for hours.
He will sleep in the moby. That is where he is now, sleeping in the moby and has been for 90 minutes. Moby is great, but there are certain things I cant do with him in it. Bending down with him gets tiring and it can be hard on my back after a while.
I really shouldn't complain, he sleeps well at night. Do you co-sleep, he sleeps great curled up next to me.
I can sleep half sitting with him in the moby for a nap (but wouldnt do it at night)
I guess I am saying good luck, hope both our babies learn to nap without us.
Also, are you tired of people telling you that it is because "you never put him down and let him cry"......right, cause he is a baby and doesnt need to scream!

Suddenly at 9 weeks my son is also not staying asleep. He was a great nighttime sleeper and would dream nurse. Now, he wakes up crying until I can soothe him back to sleep. This is a brand new behavior. I wear him in the moby to get him to nap. But I too have trouble bending down, cooking with him in the wrap. I think he is waking up during various sleep cycles instead of sleeping through them. How do I fix that?
I think is just one of those things we are all facing and I hope this phase will work itself out. This question gets posted a lot, so we must all be struggling with it.
