Overdue Mamas

for all of those mamas that are past their due date are any of you trying to encourage things along in anyway???

I am 41 weeks tomorrow and not feeling in a big rush but my parents will be arriving in town Easter weekend and I would really like to have a week with just us and baby before they arrive.

So hubby and I are planning on doing the deed a LOT this weekend and I am debating scheduling a chiro appt. for Monday. I see our midwife tomorrow but am not really interested in anything invasive like having my membranes stripped.

I ate spicy food and pineapple. Had membranes stripped. Walked A LOT. Nothing. Then, at 41+2, went and had a prenatal massage with a masseuse who knew pressure points to put me into labor. 10 hours later, I was feeling ctx!

I haven't done much out of the ordinary. I am 41 weeks 4 days now. We have tried a little of everything along the way the last couple of weeks (other than castor oil). My OB wants to strip my membranes tommorrow. I don't think I am up for that though.

Not really. My MW has me taking EPO, both internally and vaginally. DH dtd the other day, but not really for natural induction, more because he was desperate. I've been trying to walk every day because it is the only thing that keeps my feet a reasonable size. I got a pineapple this week, and it's mostly gone (they were on sale, and DS2 loves them; he actually ate a good share of it).

I was sort of thinking about scheduling another massage, and maybe an appt. with an acupuncturist who specializes in prenatal stuff. Maybe next week, if baby doesn't get the memo that his or her lease is up.

Everytime we do I get hours of decent contractions but then nothing, oh well.

I'm three days "overdue". 40w3d.

We just have sex when we can. Haven't done anything else and I won't at this point.. All my babies tend to go 42-43 weeks so I've accepted it and not gonna bother.

Doesn't mean I don't wanna go in labor RIGHT NOW though. I'm getting antsy and been having contractions. Lost my plug too.

I had a great experience with acupuncture, gave birth after two sessions. GL ladies

I didn't even get any decent contractions out of it. Just a lot of sore muscles and uncomfortableness. Oh well. DH was happy, lol!

Didn't know about pineapple?????

We just started EPOs...mostly orally, only once vaginally...not sure how much to take....

also trying a healthy labor tea (herbal)

tried sex twice....seemed to increase contractions for a couple of hours but then they dwindled again....

It seems that everything I read about though says to start this two weeks before the due date....well, that means it's not a way to help with IMMEDIATE labor so I wonder how much is it really helping at all? sigh..... not willing to do castor oil as my bowels have enough spasm stuff going on over the last week or so...no need to add to THAT pain....

Thinking of you! I'm excited for you and your family

I'm due today or yesterday. I've had tons of contractions that seem quite real and then stop. I'm getting tired of it. Midwife had offered Cotton Root Bark to help things along and so I'm trying it today. It's one dropperful every half hour. I've had more contractions and then less. Right now it's much less and I'm getting closer to the end of the 6 hour trial then I stop.

My other two were born by now by days...having a hard time being patient.

I keep wondering about positioning, maybe I'll read spinning babies again.

Hope someone is in labor today!

Maybe all these "overdue" babies are just really easygoing little souls!

I'd be more inclined to agree with that if 'baby' wasn't so busy kicking at my intestines! LOL

same here

we dtd the yesterday with lots of nipple stimulation and it lead to 5 hours of strong, regular but short contractions (20-30 seconds) but no baby.

Not sure I am willing to do that again with out a guarantee it will lead to actual labor

41 + 2

Yeah, baby spends a good amount of time every day bouncing on my cervix and kicking other sensitive areas, so not sure that the easygoing part is going to work out so well here. Plus, I have 4 older children who are, shall we say, determined, intense, people. What are the odds we'd have one totally laid-back and easygoing at this point?
