Question for those that are in the know about blood sugar numbers

I am doing a week of home testing vs the GTT test. I am doing 4x day, fasting and 1 hr after each major meal. I've finished the week and hand it in next Friday. I realized that while I am quite confident I don't have GD, I have no idea what my numbers "should" be when fasted, and an hour after eating.

Does anyone have what the acceptable ranges are? My fasting tend to be in the 60s and 70s. An hour after eating really balanced meals it is in the 80s, sometimes low 90s, and if I add in something crappy to the meal, maybe a low 100's. Is that where it should be?

Sounds perfect, even a teensy bit on the lower side, so nowhere near GD.

Great, thank you!

They actually do sound a bit on the low side. It's my understanding that upon awakening (fasting) they should be under 90, one hour after meals under 140, and two hours after meals under 120. Congrats!

I currently have GD and my numbers are much higher than yours and I'm following the GD diet. The guidelines I was given were under 90 for a fasting glucose level and under 120 one hour after a meal.

Your numbers look good too me - I don't think you have GD.

No where near GD, you're fine. In general, target numbers for healthy pregnant women are below 90 (some say below 100) for fastings... and under 120 one hour after meals (under 140 two hours after meals). You're fine.

Thanks All! It is kind of interesting for me, to do it this way. I spent years in the fitness and sports nutrition industry. Part of that was food planning for competitve athletes and bodybuilders that had to keep a very low bodyfat%. The way we did this was to design perfectly balanced meals combining the right things to keep blood sugar stable. DH and I are fitness and lifting junkies, so we normally kind of eat in that similar way....very close to a GD diet. I always kind of wondered if the reality matched what my years of the education taught me. So this was fun for me to see what meals made my blood sugar do what.

DH and I would do something like eat a cookie, check it, watch it spike. Then quickly eat a protein and fat and it stabilized quickly. The science of it is really interesting.

It must be very tough for those with GD to make such a hard and fast dietary change, as even not having GD I am amazed what different foods can do.
