OK need help here.

DH is so hung up on our girls name being Jessica James.

I hate the name Jessica bec of an unpleasant person I used to work with. It just makes me think of her. So, IF I did agree to this it would be Jesse/Jessie/Jessy & not Jessica.

I also dont like it bec DH & DS are both Frank James, who was Jesse James' brother & part of the James gang. I am not into 'theme' naming my family. I think we all should have our own identity - I didnt even want DS named after DH, but I lost that battle.

Eliza Ann James is my first choice - Eliza is DH's great-great grandmother/Ann is both our Mother's middle names. DH wants Jesse as a middle name then, which I dont even like. It ruins what could be a very classic name. Although maybe Jessica would be Ok as a middle name to keep it less outlaw sounding.

Am I just being a brat?

i think it's your turn and you should stick to your guns. he'll see reason, eventually.

Sounds to to me like it is your turn too. Usually I'm all for both parents agreeing on a name. However, if there wasn't agreement on the last one and dh won then I'd say you've got one coming.

I reserve the right to veto names that have bad memories attached to them for me (as in the case of your coworker). Period.

Thanks for your responses.

With the cheating Jesse James in the news now things are leaning more in my favor. Ah... timing is everything... sometimes at least

Eliza is a fine name.

"Jessie James" is definitely not one to saddle your child with!

However, I believe in compromise, and so voted for Eliza Jessica James. You may have bad associations with a certain Jessica, but once it's part of your own child, that will overshadow those associations by far.

Besides, neither you nor anyone else is going to be using her middle name on a regular basis.

Yup, dh and I both have this veto power. I really think its important that names have good memories attached.

Also, I am totally with you on the Jesse James part - even Jessica James is a little close for comfort. Not something I would saddle my kid with either.

I voted for Eliza Ann. Victoria Ann would be my second choice.

I agree with pp. I wouldn't want to be named after a famous outlaw. I think it's your turn, lol.

Maybe remind DH that this parenting thing is a partnership and you both have to have an equal say? Since he "won" with your son's name, you definitely reserve the right NOT to be saddled with a name you dislike. I think Eliza Ann sounds classic and very pretty.

I voted Victoria Ann. It's very beautiful and you have a choice of a couple different cute nick names if you chose to do that. I also like Eliza as a name but I just wasn't crazy how it sounded when said with the middle name for some reason.

I don't care for Jesse James either, too much to saddle a child with for life. If your DS was named something you don't care for, I think you should have a turn to choose something. For our kids we've had shared veto power, so there are some names like Addison, that I love but DH has vetoed. For DH, it's Rowan that I've vetoed. But in the end, we've come to an agreement on our DC's names.

Love Love Love the name Eliza! It's been on our short list for both of our girls.

You are not being brat at all!

Eliza Ann is awesome. Victoria Ann would be great, too, except that makes the initials VAJ and I don't know if that would bother you or her, but it would bother me personally.

Um, if you Google Jessica James you will see that you do not want to name your DD that.

Wow... that should clench it for ya!

OMG, your right!! When you sound it out its not the best body part to have your name sound like. Thanks.

I googled Jessica James. I agree.......not a name I'd want to give my child for more than one reason.

I didn't notice the initial thing for Vitoria Ann. In that case, I would probably change my vote to Eliza.

i voted eliza ann james before i read any of your posts. it's beautiful!

i didn't vote for the jessica ones because they sound weird with eliza - they both end in "uh". eli-zuh, jessi-cuh. it's just too much, yk?

but eliza ann james is classic, unique, beautiful and sweet! jmo, though!

I think Eliza Ann has meaning for you and is classy and lovely, so you should stick with that. I wouldn't want to name my child something that I felt really negatively about--seems like an awful start to life!

My only qualm is that Eliza Ann has the two "a" sounds right next to each other and could run together a bit, but if the names are significant for you and you like the way they sound, then go for it!

What about Eliza Victoria James? And EV (evie) is a cute nickname?
