anyone know about this? you buy an adapter (saw them at target, but didn't have time to read how it worked), and...haven't a clue, but free landline is interesting. or other cheap, basic landline services. it is qwest here, but i pay $28 for barebones landline with no call waiting, no voicemail, ect.

thanks!

Qwest is the basic provider here too. There is one level of service that is more bare than the "bare bones" plan. My sister has it. She can receive unlimited calls. But, her outgoing calls are limited. She pays about $12/month for it. The plan you mention is about $25 here.

I just negotiated with our cable provider though. I was willing to drop everything (I had a phone, internet, tv bundle) and get the $12 phone through qwest. But, they offered me $10 phone -- no perks and our same internet for $30. This is doable for us right now. I really didn't want to get rid of internet--we homeschool and use that a lot. I still dropped the tv part.
