I'm able to find info on most minerals, but molybdenum is more illusive. How much do you supplement and exactly why did you decide on that dose? thx

This is the one we take and we got it from here too since she gives free shipping on everything else and she had thornes MTHF-5 too very cheap.

The way I give doses is:
If we don't eat any beans and are having allergy issues that day or eat an allergen (3-4 drops)
If we eat plenty of beans, like 1 to 2 serving, we only have 1-2 drops.

This stuff tastes like water and I notice if I take too much, it tastes really funny.

Just to add, I always thought that we didn't need molybdneum since we eat alot of beans, but since we added this in, my breastfeeding sons rashes went away. They had almost gone away with cutting allergens out, and adding in a ton of other nutrients, but this is what tipped the scale. And we are more toolerant of foods when taking it.

Okay, thanks, I was looking at this supplement: http://www.brainchildnutritionals.co...child_Nux.html

It has lots of molybdenum and other elements that aren't typically in children's supplements. They're designed for autism-spectrum children, and although DD is not autistic, she shows signs of having some of the same nutrient deficiencies.

Has anyone heard of that supp? It would be great to get one catch-all, but I'm thinking I may need to be able to add or subtract what I need as I see fit....

Here are a couple threads about her behavior:

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...828&highlight=

We have her on Feingold now and I currently have her off all supplements except fish oil. But after St. 1 of FG, I want to get a really good comprehensive multi. (I ordered Natural Calm for her as well, but haven't received it yet.)

I found the Brainchild one and liked it, but it seems high on certain minerals -- not sure if she needs all that.

I'm thinking of getting that brand of Mag for DD. Your threads have been helpful

When I followed the link, it went to the main Brainchild page, what's the name of the supp you're looking at?

We used brainchild minerals, and I think they were highly absorbable and effective. Pretty low doses though - we added extra moly to those (unless you're looking at the mega minerals, and I wouldn't start with those - they ahve enough mag to not taste as good). The vites look great, but DS wouldn't take them - they're a pretty strong taste. Strong juice might cover it OK, but if you're low sals, it's hard to find something to cover the taste.

For mo, we use the nutricology drops. In the beginning, I gave both kids 2-3 a day - now I just give them a drop or two whenever I remember. I don't think at those kinds of doses, you need to worry about too much, so it's a pretty easy mineral to supp.

Beans can be a great source of mo, but only if you're digesting them well, and lots of our kids have challenges there.

When LOs eat beans should they digest even the skin? When DD eats beans she has the skin in her diaper...always. Especially with kidney or black beans.I thought it was normal for a 2 year old because she doesn't chew her food very well.

we use brainchild's spectrum support II; ds1 does not have autism, but he has a lot of problems with digestion, lots of allergies/intolerances, and severe eczema. we have not noticed a significant difference when using these supplements, but we feel a lot better about giving them to him because we feel like he is actually getting something from them. I also supp mo, from brainchild, but honestly don't see much of a difference when we do/don't. This information is probably not the most helpful, but I do like their products.

How long have you been supping?

I was thinking of starting her with the SSI, the most basic, of their vitamin supplement program.

I'm glad to hear that others have used them and like them.

We do eat lots of beans and I'm assuming she is digesting them -- she doesn't have a lot of trouble with gas or tummy pain, and she has regular BM's....
