SOS -- need ideas for entertaining a toddler while I work

Thread Starter
27 month old DS has been out of daycare for a couple of days with a stomach bug. He's basically better now but hasn't hit the 24-hour mark and we're home again today. I'm on a hard publication deadline and HAVE to get some serious writing done in the next two hours. There's no one else to watch DS and no one else to do the work.
How can I keep a two year old totally captivated? We've done blocks, Mr. potato head, trains and TV. I need something totally new and exciting that he can do with only sporadic interaction from me.

I might be too late but...

Coloring
Play-dough
Paint with paints or pudding or whatever
Water table (or just fill a bucket/tub with a couple inches of water & put it at a good height)
Put music on in the background, whichever activity you pick -- my DS is much more self-motivated with music on for some reason
Play with macaroni or dry beans or sand
Go work outside & let him play in the yard/park
Give him something normally "forbidden" (phone, computer, knick-knacks, whatever he normally can't have)

Hope something there sparks some ideas... I WAH with DS & it sure is tough when you have an important deadline!
