Anyone ever go through this? (TMI alert)

I'm 27 weeks.

Yesterday morning I woke up feeling fine but then proceeded to begin to have crampy emergency trips to the bathroom. (trying to not make this too gross) In between episodes, I would have what felt liek contractions, not stomach cramps. My whole abdomen would get tight for 5-11 seconds every 5-10 minutes. This went on all day despite the fact that I had my folks watching DS and I just lied down drinking water and tea. Come 7PM they were strong and I called our midwife who had me come into the hospital to check my cervix and be monitored. She sent me home saying the contractions were not much, baby was fine, cervix was fine, and it was from dehydration from getting sick all day. She wanted me to rest all day today and drink lots of water.

So here I am. Resting, drinking lots of water, and STILL getting sick and having little contraction/cramps. I at this point only trust eating saltines.

Nobody else(DH, DS, my parents, babysitter etc.) is sick so I'm thinking food poisoning? But who knows. Now I want to know what might come next. I'm supposed to call the office if things don't improve today but I'm worried I'll get sent to the hospital and hooked up to an IV...not fun.

Just wondering if anyone ever had something like this happen.

if it is from dehydration, being sent in and hooked up to an IV wouldn't really be a bad thing... and they wont make you stay there forever, just until you are rehydrated. (Tons of experience with this with DD)

Also, often when I had to do this they would hook me up to an NST to monitor her... which was comforting as well since I was having the contractions and wanted to be sure she wasnt getting distressed by them.... had that happen with DS at 40w4d and ended up being induced because of it.

It would be far better for your baby and your family if you went in for an IV if you needed it and avoided labor that could bring about a 27 wk baby.

It's really important to get well as quickly as possible, if being ill is giving you contractions like this.

I made the mistake when I was 29 wks of not wanting to go in...and went on to have a 29 wk old baby!

Best wishes!

nak I did have a diarrheal illness at 20-something weeks. No one else in my family got it and I did have contractions because of it. Once I was able to get and stay hydrated the contractions stopped, but I would not have hesitated to go in for an IVif they hadn't stopped. I hope you feel well soon.
