How long from cruising to walking?

DS1 was fairly delayed with gross motor skills (crawling at 11.5 months, walking at 18 months) and DS2 is on the early end of things (crawling just shy of 7 months, cruising shortly thereafter), so I don't know what is typical for the "average" child (yes, I'm aware there is a wide range of average). How much longer until I have to get in full babyproofing mode?

If your babe was in the early to average category with gross motor skills, how long between cruising and walking?

DS1 pulled himself up at 7 months, cruised at 8, took his first few steps at 14 months (and then went back to crawling for about a month), and then finally started really walking at 15 months.

DS2 is 8 1/2 months now, and has not yet started pulling himself up or cruising. He does crawl well, though.

I would guess that there is a wide range of normal here...

My DD crawled and cruised the same week at 6.5 months, she didn't walk by herself until 11.5 months.

DS was delayed and in PT, and cruised at 15 months, but didn't walk until a week before his 2nd birthday.

DD sat up at 6 mo, crawled at 7, cruised by 9, walked at 10.5.

My younger DS was pulling up at 7 months, taking steps around 10 months, and full on walking at 11 months. His big brother was not in such a rush. He pulled up at 10 months and walked at 14 months. However, both took about 4 months to go from pulling up to walking. I just realized that. Interesting!

I don't remember with my dd, but my son crawled at 6 months, cruised by 6.5months, and walked at 8.5 months. So it was a while.

DS crawled and cruised at 7 months, walking at 9 months and running by 11 months.

My son crawled at 6 months, pulled up on furniture towards the end of 7 months, was cruising at 8 months, could stand up on his own without pulling up on anything by the beginning of 9 months, and was walking fairly well by the end of his 9th month, was running when he hit 11 months.
Not bad for a baby who had been asphyxiated at birth due to shoulder dystocia, spent the first week of his life in the ICCU and could have been brain damaged! (He's 6 now and really smart and totally healthy)

My DS army crawled at 5.5 months, cross crawled at 6 months, cruised at 7 months, and did not take his first steps until the day after his first birthday. Then he still chose to crawl as his main mode of transport for a month or so, and gradually walked more and crawled less. I was sure he would be walking by 10 months he was so fast with everything else, but he took his time.

DD crawled at 6.5 months, walked at 10.5

DS crawled at 5.5, walked at 9

That said, DD could pull herself up and balance (not holding onto things) for almost 4 months before she actually took a step

I don't think crawling and walking are *too* related

Ds started cruising at 10 months, walked 6 days after turning 1.

Dd1 started cruising at 7 1/2 months, walked 1 day before turning 11 months.

Dd2 started cruising at 6 months, walked 4 days before turning 1.

Cruising at 8 ish months, walking (beyond just a few steps) at 13.5 months. Though in a babyproofing sense, you need to know when they can balance, not when they can walk, which doesn't necessarily coincide. My son could balance well (not holding on) by 10.5 or 11 months, which gave him just as much access to get into stuff as he now has walking - I haven't noticed a difference.

my ds crawled at 8months and one of his VERY first crawls was over to the couch to pull up on it. He's 13months now and not walking yet but he's very very close.
