Something to make her crib more nest-like??

Mamas,

I have been reading the NCNS because I need to get dd to nap in her own space during the day. She is 10mo and has always napped in arms or in the carrier. Pantley suggests to make the crib more nest like because dd is so used to sleeping next to a person. What do you suggest?? Lambs skin? Some sort of blanket or cushion? I love the idea of a buckwheat pillow warmed and scented but I cannot find one where I live. I bought a magic bag, but in my opinion it smells funny. Any tips to make her crib more inviting would be greatly appreciated.

I put one of those breathable bumpers on the crib. I think it made it much more cozy for DD because it felt more enclosed like the bassinet that we used for cosleeping. I also gave her a small, soft bunny that she likes to hug when sleeping.

we use a really thin pillow with a cover that matches our own covers, a thick fleece blanket with the edges tucked securely under his mattress and blanket that i use myself to lightly cover him (i figure my scent must be on it)

he sleeps great

I've been thinking about getting a wool mattress pad (our bed is cushy, her crib mattress is like a rock.) I posted about it and didn't really get any encouraging responses, at least not enough to spend $100 on a mattress pad! It's not a lamb skin, though, it's just wool on a cotton backing, no "skin". Snugfleece is the brand I was looking at.

I did get an American Baby Company "heavenly soft" crib sheet, which is sort of velour-ish, and softer than a regular sheet, but I think for "nestlike" I still need more padding in the crib, too.
