DD (20 months) and I are currently living at my parents' place, after my separation. We occupy the master bedroom. DD and I have always coslept, in some form or another. Currently, she sleeps on a single bed which is sandwiched between the wall and the queen size bed I sleep on. They're almost at the same height, so she used to be able to roll into my area at night(she's a thrasher), so I bought a huge body pillow and that seemed to stop her for a while.

Also, she's nightweaned, so she only wakes up a) if she's had a nightmare, b) if she's congested and really can't breathe through her nose, or c) to nurse at 5 a.m. A lot of her wakeups these days are due to a) or b), and she doesn't really come to my side of the bed to cuddle. It's like if she just wants to know I'm there, and then she settles back to sleep, but on my side of the bed, laying spreadeagle. I usually end up trying not to touch her (or she'll wake up) and occupying a rather small area of my own bed.

So, I'm wondering if I separate the two beds and put up a guard rail, it'll at least convince DD to stay on her own side until 5-6ish, when she wakes to nurse.

Input anyone?
