Look What I Made!

I'm so proud of myself. I've had a sewing machine my mom gave me sitting in my basement for a couple of years, but have never taken the time to figure out how to use it. I used to know how to sew when I was in high school, but it had been a really long time.

I brushed it off last weekend and took it to my mom's so that she could give me a refresher course. I ended up making 7 wool diaper covers (3 newborn and 4 small) from some old wool sweaters, a dress for the new baby, 2 dresses for my DD, and one for my niece! It was so much fun! Once I finish up the last touches on the dresses I'll post pics of them too, but here's the covers.

The argyle one is adorable!!! I'm guessing my cashmere spotting skills arent failing me?

How fun. Now I just need to give my sewing maching a firm talking-to, and maybe it will stop binding up on me- then I can finish my dipes, and move on to some covers, too. How precious, Evies'mama!!

(out of curiousity, did those soakers come from the pattern I linked last week? I am wondering how they'd turn out...!)

Adorable and wow... you were busy! Its funny, just last weekend I was inspired to sew as well. It's been years, so I to took my machine to mom's house and made roman blinds for the bedroom (soon to be living room, when our addition to the house is finished). It was soooo much fun. I've been focusing on finishing up projects, clear out my stash and then start on some new projects. First one will be a baby quilt made with camouflage fabric, my DH will be thrilled by it. Happy sewing mamma, I look forward to seeing pics of the dresses.

How do we view that link? I'm going to my mom's today to do just the same thing - get a refresher course and start making baby clothes! I want to use cloth diapers, but I don't know a thing about them yet, so for now I'm sticking to dresses and not diaper covers. Would love to see yours!

Thanks ladies!

I used this pattern.

My seams don't look quite as neat and clean on the inside as hers do though! I'm guessing she has a serger she used to make them look like that.

Now I've just got to figure out what I'm going to put underneath them!

Maybe you have to have a minimum number of posts to view MDC albums.

Thanks so much for sharing the cover pattern! I started making my stash, but diapers first, and now I need to do covers. I've been using the PooPockets pattern for diapers.

I can't get over how cute your covers are

Love those covers!! I'd love to see the dresses too! You have sure been busy!

I have been drooling all day over some more diaper making supplies online today while I wait for my shipment of supplies from the states. I finally found some european based suppliers with good prices and awesome selection on PUL prints and FOE with prints.
I can't wait to start making covers!!

I finished the dresses! I added the pics to the album in the first post. I'm headed to the fabric store this afternoon to find some new projects to work on. I'm thinking of getting a pattern for a skirt for her and then making several in different colors.

Very cute! The temptation to make matching kids' clothes is too hard to pass up, isn't it?
