Pregnant. Stop diarrhea naturally???? Don't want to take pepto/immodium!

Long story short Wed I think I ate something bad and Thursday I spent the day on the toilet and all the while had contractions/cramps every 5-10 minutes. Saw my midwife last night and while my cervix/baby/all was fine she told me to stay on bedrest today and hydrate. Said the cramping was from dehydration. She said to call if it didn't stop and I"d have to take something for it, like pepto.

But I'm STILL having diarrhea and even though I've rested I'm having cramps. Not as strong but they're there. All I've eaten is saltines and soup today.

I really don't want to take immodium or pepto because I think it's bad for you and I don't want my baby being exposed to drugs like that. Ia lso tend to believe that if my body wants to eliminate something bad then it should. But I also don't want to get shipped into the ER for an IV to hydrate.

Anything natural I can do? HELP!

I'm not going to be of much help, because I'm about to suggest exactly what you're trying to avoid.

But I'm dealing with this myself right now.

I gave the diarrhea about two days to purge whatever needed purging, and then I took an imodium.

The imodium worked wonders.

I really felt like it was a better alternative to not letting the baby get the nutrition she needs.

I still feel like crap today, but at least I'm not dehydrated and can keep food in me for more than a few minutes.

Otherwise, I suppose you could try something like the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast.

Eating small quantities helped, and making sure I ate at least a bite of something even if I didn't feel like it. Because otherwise I'd get hungry, but then eat a bit too much, and pay the price a little while later.

However, I'm also pretty sure mine was a virus, not something I ate.

also, you didn't mention how far along you are. I know imodium is a no-no in the first trimester. And Pepto is a no-no in the 3rd trimester? I think that's right. Google shall tell all. But imodium is a class B in the third trimester.
