Numb to pain from the waist down?

I'm kinda scratching my head here. Any idea what could cause someone to be numb to pain from the waist down but still be able to walk and feel touch/tickles and other sensations just not pain?

Yes, there are separate tracts in the spinal cord leading up to the medulla that are responsible for pain/temperature and touch/vibration/proprioception. It's kind of complicated, but basically, there could be a lesion in the pain tract that does not extend all the way to the touch tract. Does that make sense?

There are many things that could cause such a lesion. I would suggest consulting with a neurologist.

Yes it does make sense, thank you. We know she does have some brain damage in her temporal lobe, not a far stretch for it to be else where too. I'll have to bring it up next time we go in, its not something I'd really noticed until recently.
