Intact Adult, Frenulum Breve? need advice

I asked a friend who is a member here for advice and she directed me here, but didn't feel comfortable posting on my behalf so I hope you won't mind the intrusion. I would like to ask for your advice.

I am an intact adult man and I am having some medical issues and am not sure where to get the right information
or help.I cannot retract my foreskin all the way and it becomes a problem when I am erect. I looked it up online and the pictures and user experiences seem consistent with Frenulum Breve(which means a short Frenulum in Latin).

there are several solutions for it. Frenuloplasty being the one that solves my problem. the only issue being that the success rate (from what I have read) is in the 40-50% range.eventually,I have to circumcise (they say) if Frenuloplasty does not work out.

I called up the Urologists(there were abt 4-5 nearby) around the area and asked them if they perform Frenuloplasties. most of them have never even heard of it.only one Doctor said he does. I book an appointment and show up at his place. Now he is pushing me onCircumcision. He did not give me one good reason why I shouldnt do a Frenuloplasty. He says I dont have much of a frenulum for him to work with.So he diagnosed me with Phimosis when clearly it is not.

I am not comfortable with Circumcision as an option, especially not as the first thing I try!
I was wondering if any of you had any ideas as to how I should go about solving this.and how to find the right Urologist.

it is just a snip..figured any doctor could do this.not sure why they are giving me a hard time.

I will truly appreciate it if you can share your knowledge/experience on this.

thanks in advance.

Hi-
I'm also an intact adult male, and while I don't have an experience with a doctor pushing me towards circ, I can sympathize. I would recommend just saying something along the lines of, "your preoccupation with circumcision is freaking me out, I'd like to see another urologist" and then do it. Try and find a doctor who is from a non-circing country, and is therefore likely to be intact. They will be much more sympathetic to your desire to maintain as much of your genitals as possible.

You should contact Dr's opposing circ. http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org/ they can get you in contact with a Dr. near you who actually knows about the intact penis.

No way would I allow a pro circ Dr. to do anything to my penis (if I had one) what if he messes it up either by accident or because he feels circ is the answer.

Cutting the frenulum isnt rocked science but the Dr. does need to know what he is doing. There dosnt need to be a lot of frenulum to work with. From what I have read it is a zig zag cut along the length to make it longer to allow for retraction without it bending.

Good luck.

I will be at the Genital Integrity Awareness demonstration in Washington DC this weekend. I can take your question to several of the men there and get an opinion.
You can also call Marilyn Milos at NOCIRC and get some help.

While I am no doctor, I see no reason why the same techniques used for restoring (growing a longer foreskin) would not work. However, here is a pro foreskin site, and they talk about the operation:

http://www.circumstitions.com/Frenbrev.html

Certainly there is no reason to circumcise for this condition.

I have to second looking into a non-surgical means. Has any doc talked to you about steroid creams? Otherwise I be willing to bet manual or device aided gentle tension might help.

yes i will be seeing another Urologist; that is for sure. why cant a GP do this procedure anyway?

I actually called the Medical Assistant and asked for what i should ask the next Urologist i will be seeing so that he will do what I want. cuz I called ahead and asked this doctor (before the appointment) if he performs Frenuloplasties. he said yes but backed out at the time of appointment.

initially, he said frenuloplasties cause the penis to swell up and he waited for my reaction; I was like "ok..does it stay swelled up till the end of time? How do you make it go away.?" he just changed the subject.

anyway, I wanted to know more about the success rate of frenuloplasties. some sites say that scar tissues form later on and Circumcision might become a necessity. I couldnt find more info on that.

yes it can either be Z-Shaped or Y-Shaped cuts.

they do prescribe Betamethasone for stretching. most ppl dont seem to have much success with it.

circumstitions.com was helpful. especially this line:
Take note: Any pain experienced prior to operation will turn to pleasure after.

I sure hope so.

and whom do i get in touch with at http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org?
they did have informative videos.as did www.nocirc.org.

thanks for your responses.

Has this problem started recently? If the 1979 in your user name is the year of your birth that makes you over 30 yo. If this only started recently I would investigate underlying causes.

It might be a yeast infection causing the skin to tighten. If it is it can be easily treated with an OTC yeast cream for women such as monistat.

You can also try posting over on healthboards.com. There is a member over there (tommy124) who is very knowledgeable about adult foreskins (we tend to be more familiar with baby ones.)

Moved from TCAC to Health and Healing, as the focus of TCAC is on routine infant circumcision.

Hi. Please listen to my advice if you haven't solved your problem yet because i had this problem and solved it myself, I have regular sex now, vaginal oral and I've even penetrated girls anuses which were previously untouched and had no problems.

I went to the urologist like you did and got his advice, and let me tell you you happen to have gone to an idiot from what I heard. My guy said they'd do an operation where they remove part of the foreskin and make a cut in the frenulum and then use skin from your foreskin to make it longer. I live in Australia by the way where medicine isn't that badly in the 3rd world. I don't know where you're from. This was actually just his twisted humour although in extreme cases this operation is the standard procedure he said, and mine was a bad case he told me. Just to give you an Idea. I had such a short frenululm that even if i pulled the foreskin back flacid even just a little, it would pull the head and stop me from even being able to urinate, I always had to do this without retracting.

I was old wehn i found out it was a problem because i was a virgin loner for years and I seriously was 24 when i knew it was a problem, because i was so lonely I looked at gay porn and saw my penis didn't look like that and it freaked me out.

Anyway I said I didn't want to have surgery because of my own fears and also what he said to do with complications to do with anesthetics and recovery time, them just screwing up the operation, so many things can go wrong with surgery. So he gave me an alternative to use this steroids cream for six months, just apply the cream to the frenulum and immediate surrounding area and stretch and the cream was just cortazone.

about 2 months and 1 week in I'd fixed it and didn't even get near the end of the tube of steroids cream, but only because of my own stretching technique: websites tell you to pull your foreskin forwards and over the glans as in grabbing the tip and pulling it away from you for hour at a time as well as pulling it down as far as it goes and holding it there.

I used a different technique, I just pinched the bit where its joined to the head and as far down as you can see the line of the frenulum on the shaft and streched each side away from eachother in jigging pulling motions ala what an african tribe would do to stretch a part of their body (ears, penises, lips). I only did it about five minutes a day and just pulled it for a few seconds every time I went to the bathroom.

So any guy who happens to read this or a girl worried about a partner or a relative whatever you do DO NOT go for any surgery options you can well fix this yourself just like I did.
