Value your bladder control while you still have it

..first time mamas! Apparently it's less common to lose it for a while after irst pregnancies....and more common in subsequent ones. Sigh. I have peed on our bathroom rugs about 5 times since DD's birth Sunday, and peed in my pants (hurray for super pads that hold a little pee! ) about 5 times. It's like as soon as I get my pants down to pee it starts coming out, before I can even sit on the toilet. Sheesh! lol

If it doesn't improve on its own, there are women's health physical therapists that specialize in bladder issues (I was a PT before having kids but this is not my area of expertise...however, if/when I start having issues I would totally go this route):

Women's health PTs use methods that go beyond just kegels, like biofeedback, etc. to help promote increased pelvic floor strength and bladder control.

TOTALLY. I actually used one of these PTs to work on my vaginal pain, and I promised myself I'd go back for bladder control issue when I was done having kids. Which I now am.

Based on how I felt throughout my second pregnancy I thought for sure my pelvic floor was shot, but immediately after the birth and since I've had amazing bladder control! I go so long without going now, and so much at a time, it's awesome! I guess the extreme urge to go my entire pregnancy was DS pressing on my bladder and I was constantly having to hold it, even if it was just a teaspoon. It must have built up those muscles.

Plummeting I'm sorry you're having a hard time with it. You are really recently postpartum, right? Maybe it's just numbness following the birth or something, I hope it resolves itself quickly for you!

aww man! I had that after my first was born (I blame the episiotomy cutting the muscles down there, but I dunno). Sucked. Hope it goes away for you soon!

Oh yeah, it's already getting better. It's just been a funny experience. The day after she was born I peed on myself or the floor three times without even knowing what was happening until I was wet. lol

TONS of Kegals is the key! I've had five vaginal births (currently waiting on #6 to make her grand arrival) and I don't have any problems holding it. Make sticky notes if you have to around the house and in the car. The more the better!!!!

Hope it gets better soon hun.

I haven't had the total loss of control experience, but I'm thinking that I'll still need to wear pads even after I stop bleeding. Sigh. Between allergy season (achoo!) and the cold going around my house (cough cough), I'm definitely not doing too well!
