Movie suggestions for 4.5 yo????

We try and limit dd tv watching to a few hours a week and have occasionally rented dvd movies from the library. Looking for some movie suggestions for these times?

Mary Poppins

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the old one, and fast forward the scene where they are on the boat. It's scary!)

That's all I've got. I'm looking for very mild, and very clean stuff...and it's just not out there. Dd gets very upset at much intensity...Little House on the Prairie is too much. So is Tom and Jerry. Veggie Tales is just over the top for her. (And not exactly my taste for the kids, either...) And I don't want any attitude from the kids, no acting like the parents are stupid, and absolutely no bad language, not even euphomisms.

(humph...forgive my run-on sentences and horrible spelling. When I'm pg I can't spell or do math. Drives me crazy!)

Toy Story
Wall E
Strawberry Shortcake
Little Bear movie (soooo beautiful)

Winnie the Pooh movie (the old one- can't remember the name- it is so innocent and sweet with absolutely no violence but there is a thunderstorm scene in it that frightened my daughter a bit

My kids really like Dora and Diego, too

Hope this helps

How about, Snow Buddies. There is the dog catcher...but I don't remember it being too intense. Both my kids loved how the dogs talk.

I like any of the "Buddies" movies - Air Buddies is the first but there is also Snow Buddies where they enter a dog sled race, Space Buddies where they go to the moon, and Santa Buddies where they help save Christmas. All are in regular rotation here and the "drama" is extremely mild. DS is also in a huge "Land Before Time" jag so we have several of those. The first was is more intense/sad (mother dies) than the others but they all have some element of danger from the "Sharp Teeth" (aka T Rex and the like)

DD (4.5) watches about 1/2 a DVD when she gets home from kindergarten...she seems to need the zone time! These are the ones she requests over and over:

My Neighbour Totoro
Milo and Otis
up
Kiki's Delivery Service
Land Before Time
Madeline
Franklin and the Green Knight

Musicals are a big hit here: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sound of Music (she watches it until the "goodnight" song), Annie, Wizard of Oz...

E likes a lot of creepier movies (Corpse Bride, other kind of dark Burton-y movies, Howl's Moving Castle...) but was really, really freaked out by charlie and the chocolate factory.

I forgot, Nanny McPhee was a big hit too. and Cars.

My 3 yr old DS is always asking for Kevin ... the bird in UP, he even loved the love story part

We like the Wallace and Grommit shorts, but the movies are too scary. Shaun the Sheep is also a big fave, and for series, we like Fireman Sam. My almost-5 y/o argued with me that Winnie the Pooh was for babies, but then loved the Honey Tree and the first 3 classics they reissued on dvd. Oh, and Toy Story 2, but the first Toy Story was a little scary, mainly the Sid character.

Just an observation, but isn't it crazy how hard it is to find non-scary, non-violent, non-obnoxious language movies and shows?!?

My oldest ds is very sensitive... some of the Veggie Tales he does not like, others he does. He does not like anything suspenseful or scary... meanwhile my 4 yo says "I love the scary parts!" Here are some my boys love. I'll star the ones that my sensitive ds found some scary scenes in... he was still able to get through these and watch them, but he might not have been able to at 4. Ds2 doesn't have a problem with any of them. So, it depends on the 4 year old. I'm pretty picky about what I want my kids watching, though.

Cars
Toy Story and Toy Story 2 (most of the Disney stuff is too intense, but the Pixar is a big hit)
Misty of Chintanteague... okay, I can't spell it.
The Nutcracker (the ballet, on video)
Black Beauty*
Bellflower Bunnies vol. 1 and 2 (from Feature Films for Families)
The Retrievers (Feature Films for Families)
Franklin and the Green Night (FFfF)
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs*
All the Peanuts movies(I know the kids are not all nice to Charlie Brown, but we use it as a teaching moment)
Bedknobs and Broomsticks*
The Absent Minded Professor
Veggie Tales: Gideon the Tuba Warrior
Winnie the Pooh movies
