I have been having a wooshing sound in my left ear that gets louder at night. I went to the doc. I got a CT scan. She looked in my ears. She says its fluid that needs to drain. She told me to take Mucinex and use a wax removal kit. I'm bfing and I don't want to take the Mucinex. It throws my balance, it's loud, and I get headaches. Any suggestions?

You can massage the area just behind and below your ear to help with drainage. Only stroke downwards.

A neti pot can sometimes help, too. So can lots of steam.

Acupuncture?

Are your ears inflammed at all? When i eat an allergen, my ears swell a little and traps fluid. Once I stop eating the allergens, it goes away.

A warm compress can help along with the suggestions from the other poster.

I took a decongestant to try and clear mine, along with Oto Plex which is a homeopthic remedy to support the middle ear.

I'm a month into ear "stuff" and still have limited hearing in my left ear because of all the fluid in it. I was told by the ENT I went to that my eustacian tubes are still clogged up from the flu leftovers I had over a month ago. Crazy stuff.
