Baby Movement

With my first, I was about 15w when I began to wonder if what I was feeling was the baby or just gas bubbles. By 17w I knew it had been the baby. It was a really light popping bubble feeling near my left ovary. With my second, I had that same feeling in the same spot (always near my left ovary) and knew it was the baby. I was about 15w once again. With both boys, I had an anterior placenta.
I have been on this site for several years now and have come across posts of women who felt their babies move really early on...women saying they feel the baby at 10 wks. I've always rolled my eyes and thought no way too soon...why must some women be so competitive on here about how in tune they are with their bodies that they feel their babies move right after conception!
So I am 13w today. And for the past 3.5w I have been questioning these weird little feelings I have been having. I convinced myself 3w ago it was way too early. But it really was not feeling like gas. But 9.5w? Come on...is that really possible? (on a side note, I heard the HB on the doppler at 8w...that's early) But it has been several night's now and it is not an overt movement at all but I swear I feel the baby move. I am wondering if maybe this time around I have a posterior placenta and that is why I can feel and hear things so soon.
So I am wondering, what is the earliest you felt the baby move?

How sure of your dates are you? I definitely felt my third sooner than my first two (13.5w vs 16w) but I just can't wrap my head around feeling something smaller than a blueberry, ya know? I do think your body can be aware of baby, in a spiritual and physical sense before you can physically feel them, and that our brains are pretty amazing at making the impossible make sense (aka you can reallyreally feel like you feel them, because your brain is trying to figure out how to interpret being aware of something so small) but physically? I don't think it's possible. REGARDLESS - I think it's a bit like telling new mom's that a newborn's gas smiles aren't "real". Does it bring you joy? Does it make your heart jump and make you feel more bonded to this little soul? Then it is real.

My body is like clockwork. I knew I was PG b/c I was a day late...I have only been a day late one other time in my life and that was my second PG (1st PG was from IVF so I tested before my period was due). I am definitely 13w PG (LMP was 12/25...BMS was 1/9...+ test 1/23) Definitely no ambiguity about dates.
I am in total agreement with you about the impossibility but at the same time, what I am feeling is different than gas (and boy do I know gas this PG...it is ridiculous) I could see ifI was just lying around trying to feel something where O am focused on my body so there is a mind over matter thing goign on, but is more like I am going to sleep or watching TV and something in by body grabs my attention and makes me say hey what was that...it's wierd.
I can't say it makes me happy or not b/c I don't really beleive it and I keep telling myself, I know the real thing in a few weeks. But my mind goes back to my first PG when I was officially feeling the baby, I was able to use hindsight to acknowledge what I had been feeling for the past 2 weeks was the baby just lighter. Maybe I will have hindsight again...make sense? It is more curiosity than hopeful/wishful thinking.

I'm pregnant with my 3rd, and I felt this one MUCH earlier. Not as early as yours, but I've previously felt movement at 24 and 21 weeks. THis time was 17 weeks. I thought I was losing my mind!! No way could it be that early. But, it really was.

Im on my third and started feeling movement between 8 and 10 weeks (not 100% sure now I would have to go back and look through tons of posts to find where I first felt it) and now at nearly 16 weeks Im positive that was what I was feeling because now its strong! When it first started it was very light (thus not gas or a muscle spasm as they tend to be much stronger) and I did shake it off but as time went on... it kept happening in the same spot and getting stronger.

I felt my first around 14 weeks and knew thats what it was for sure by 16... my second was around 10/11 weeks and knew thats what it was for sure right away...

and I am 100% positive on my dates for at least my second child and this one. With her I was having ultrasounds every other week for the entire first trimester and they all agreed on gestational age... and this one I was charting my cycle when I got pregnant.

My doctor says its because my placenta tips forward more than most womens (this also causes bladder problems, yay ) I mean... its normal to tip forward but mine does more than what it should... also I am very sensitive down there, having had IBS for years I know exactly what gas feels like, having had two kids before I can tell the difference between phantom kicks (which I still get up around my ribs and even a few down low just like before pregnancy) and real kicks. And if this pregnancy progresses like my first two (doubtful as I have more fat over my tummy higher up) I will be seeing actual exterior movement before 20 weeks.
