Does anyone else find it a bumpy road when going into or coming out of your kid(s)'s breaks from school? I was missing DS like MAD this past quarter (I'm a college professor), but easing into our break is often not quite as glorious as I think it will be. DS, 4, is an only child, and this time his cousins and most friends are away out of town. At first, the one-on-one time together was just what we both needed, but now it's not quite as fun. He's getting bored without peer playmates, and while he does play by himself wonderfully, he just needs some other kids. We've only lived in this house/neighborhood for about 1.5 years, and moved across the country about a year before that, so it's sort of hard to tap into the SAH or WAH kids/parents who must be around.
I suppose the dissatisfaction is timely as he's back to pre-school on Monday...but I'm curious about others' experience with this sort of transition, such as into and out of summer if you're with your kiddos more at that time. Any tips, experiences, or stories to share? Thanks!
