Did solids help with sleep?

My little one is a week or so away from starting solids and I'm curious if anybody noticed an improvement in sleep once solids were introduced.

I think I'm hoping and praying that it will as this little one is not a sleeper like my 1st was. I don't seem to remember it making a difference with my first.

So, from your experience did solids help with sleep?

In my case, I'm sorry to say, that solids made no difference whatsoever. At 2 years old, he's still waking up several times at night. Sorry. I hope others have a better story for you.

Not until he started having more proteins, like chicken and cheese and legumes. Just veggies and fruit, not so much.

My DS has been on solids for about a month now. We're doing veggies and fruits, some cereals. And I'm not seeing any changes. He's still up twice a night to eat.

My dd is almost 6 months old. We started solids (rice cereal) a little early because of her extremely poor sleeping habits. (Up every hour/hour and a half at night and only catnaps during the day). I feared that her development was suffering due to lack of restful sleep.

Unfortunately, I am in the exact same boat as I was before. Food has not improved our situation in the slightest. I was so hopeful, but I wish I'd just continued to ebf and waited until she was ready for finger foods to introduce food.

No, not at all.

Nope - not helpful here either. DS was teething a lot around the time he started solids, so sleep actually got worse - from the teething though, not the food. He's been eating solids for almost 6mos & his sleep still varies.

DS1 slept through the night at six weeks of age, long before he started solids.

DS2 slept through the night when he was...erhm...3.5 years old. Long AFTER he started solids.

I don't think food makes a difference. They sleep when they sleep.

No help with sleep here either.

Wishful thinking I guess. Those are the results I was expecting.

I will say they have helped his sleep somewhat, but mainly I think because he had done a pretty huge reverse cycle where he was getting most of his calories at night and not eating much during the day. I never made a huge effort to re-reverse it, but when we started with solids, it sort of reversed itself and he stopped needing to feed quite so much at night.

So for us, yes.

Nope, it hasn't made any difference. My DD has been eating solids for 2 months and she still wakes up all the time.

Nope. My daughter still wakes up just as much at night as before she started solids. She really doesn't eat that much yet, but I have not noticed a difference.

Didn't help at all.
Not at all. He is just starting to only wake once a night (usually) & he's been eating solids for 10 months. We even tried giving him a good snack before bed with no change to his sleep.

Not at all, with either kid.

no change in sleep at all.

i've gotten better naps during the day since introducing solids (we're doing BLW). it's only been a week though.

Introduced solids 1.5months ago. My son only has solids once a day.

No change in sleep.

This. I think my DD has has slightly more sound naps since starting limited solids. I'll take what I can get sleep wise but I'm not going to rush into more food.
