DS will be going away for a week next month with his dad (we are separated and have a custody agreement in which this is possible). He currently is away from me one day/night a week, plus another 8 hour day. When home, he nurses almost as much as his newborn little brother! At 5am when he comes into our bed from his little bed next to ours, at 7am before we get up to eat breakfast, and just about every 30 minutes to 2 hours throughout the day. Also a long nursing before naptime and at bedtime. He eats a lot of food, too. He's a healthy chunk
.
Within five minutes of him seeing me again when he's away (and immediately after an overnight away with his dad) he signs for milk, and we sit and he'll nurse for a while.
Should I be concerned about him weaning while he's gone?
I can and do pump (when he's away, because otherwise I get engorged). I am making a freezer stash but don't need the milk otherwise (probably going to donate eventually). If I were to send milk along his dad would probably throw it away, since he'd prefer DS be weaned by now.
