How do you organize your household chores? - Page 2

We don't have a set schedule. When the laundry basket is full then I wash the clothes. When I'm preparing lunch/dinner I do the dishes. Sweep the floors closer to evening so that they don't get dirty all over again, and then DH picks up toys before bed time.

Organize? I don't. But I need to! Reading some of the other replies who have schedules is helpful. I have only been a SAHM since a few weeks before dd was born, so I'm still trying to figure this all out. So far I can care for dd, cook the meals, and do the laundry. Hopefully, I can work in dialy cleaning, it will make things so much easier if it doesn't pile up.

I have to write up a schedule every day or two because my weekly projects change up so much.
I tend to do baking and laundry on Wednesday and big cleaning (sheets, bathrooms, floors, dusting, windows) on Sunday.
I do a load of diapers every couple of days, of course, and dishes at least once a day.

Saturdays I clip coupons while watching cartoons with the kids, and then I play with them or do personal projects.

Then there's all the cyclical/seasonal stuff. I tend to do more sewing/interior home repair and taking on web design work during the winter and gardening/yard work in the spring/summer and canning/crafting in the fall, and all that has to be worked into the schedule. I try to leave big blocks of time for learning and exploration with my 6 yo since we are homeschooling. So every morning I sit down with the kids for breakfast and rough out a schedule for everything that has to be done and make notes about what we did for "school" the previous day. I get ds's input and ideas for the day and build around that.

Evening is a pretty set schedule. Dinner gets started at 5:30. Eat at 6:30. Getting ready for bed at 7:30. Kids to bed at 8. Then it is time to clean up dinner, wipe down the table and chairs, make dh's lunch if he has work the next day, and do a final kitchen and living room tidying. After that I pretty much collapse in exhaustion unless we have social obligations. I am crazy busy, y'all.
