bones, skeleton resources

Hi all,

I'm looking for some great resources about bones, skeleton, etc. We have most of the typical body books for kids. So, I guess I'm looking more for some really cool online resources, x-rays, or unit studies, etc.

DD had a fall from the monkey bars on Thursday resulting in a severe elbow fracture and surgery. It's been an awful few days but we're surviving. In true homeschooling spirit of a science-obsessed girl, she had us take pictures of everything as we went along. We also got her ortho to promise copies of her xrays once we are finally recovered. She was quite pleased with that.

So, in the meantime, please help me find some cool things for my now one-handed, formerly very active girl to do! She's 5.5 in age, but her science knowledge and understanding is more like 8 or 9 I would say. She LOVES real pictures and info.

I haven't much for you, but was just on this the other day with my dd (soon-to-be 7), who enjoyed rolling over and clicking to read the descriptions and information, some of which mentioned how the particular bone can break, etc.

It's a site mentioned in R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey from pandiapress.com. They have the first several chapters of their first life science e-book available to download and try out for free, including a full human body unit. We're giving it a try right now and so far my daughter is enjoying it. If you're thinking to expand beyond bones, it may be worth a look.

I dont' have any stunning suggestions... but I've done the same thing re xrays. Here doctors offices only keep the printed report, the patient keeps the actual films (in most cases). So I have an xray of my hand (calcified soft tissue injury lol), my hips, my chest (from immigration), and ultrasounds! We're going to plaster the patio sliding doors with them when we do the human body unit we've got planned

The neighbors will think us crazy
