PKU & Vitamin K for HB Mamas?

Is anyone doing PKU through Baylor? (To get a more comprehensive screen & avoid DNA collection) I ordered a kit yesterday but it takes 7-10 days to arrive, and IDK what my window of opportunity for getting it done is? Plus the cost???

Also, did any HB mamas do oral Vit K? I might like to, IDK.

My midwife did our PKU a few days post partum. We are doing oral K (and did oral K in a multidose regimen with my DD for her birth center birth).

I wish I knew about the Baylor thing beforehand!! CNN just ran an article on the DNA issue w/ PKU, and in our state, PKUs (and therefore DNA) are stored "indefinitely." I wrote my state lawmakers about the issue because it makes me Good to know and pass along in the future though.

We do the PKU testing, but skip the Vit. K. My MW provides the test (she orders it through the state, I pay for it), collects the blood, and send it back in.

We did the PKU test (through the state) but didn't do any vit K.

I'm doing vit k naturally through me eating an excess of foods containing K (esp. kale and spinach) that will get to the baby via breastmilk....we put kale and spinach in smoothies so you can get a larger dose than just eating a salad, etc. and it's better for digestion!

No vit K.
Our midwife did the PKU on day 6.

We will do PKU but not the Vit K. If there is birth trauma, then we will discuss oral K. As of right no, no to K.
