Same income here, well, before I quit working to stay at home and ours is $1161, which we are comfortable with, even with me not working

Given the high preschool cost and comparing it to the ratios we use w/ our family, I honestly wouldn't feel much more comfortable than allowing for $1500-1700/mo given the high amount you pay for private school. When budgeting, I always, always figure income on the low end and expenses on the high end.
