hypersensitive nipples

This problem started after dd1 and continues for me. I just wanted to know if its somewhat common or if I am weird and have nerve damage or something.

I nurse dd2. I had a lot of problem with dd1 so I eped for her. But among the problems diagnosed by the lc I saw for dd1 was possible nerve damage in my nipples.

In between the 2 kids I really hated to have my nipples touched. It didn't hurt per se but just drove me up a wall. (This had not been the case before kids).

Now I am still nursing dd2 and that doesn't bother me but I do not want my nipple touched otherwise. Not even myself. It gives me this skin crawling sensation.

Anyone else? does it go away at some point?

Wow, I have to say your post doesn't give me much hope that my nipples will ever feel the same again! I am an EPer. I didn't know we could have nerve damage. But I have had nerve damage from surgeries and it took sometimes a few years but eventually those spots did feel normal again. I thought nerves could heal. I hope!

Oh don't worry. My (possible) nerve damage cam from me using the pump incorrectly for 2 months (I really should have seeked assistance earlier). Plus I had a lot of cracking and bleeding from the week that dd1 did nurse. In fact on nipple looks scarred almost. But I hope in your case its not like mine and stops once you are done pumping. =)I know nerves can heal and I hope they do too!
