Baby grunting in the night

My 4 week old has always done this from birth I think. While she's waking up to feed, and also usually when we put her back down to sleep after feeding. I thought it was that she needed to burp, but it doesn't really seem like that's it. Does anyone else's baby make these grunting noises???

We call our LO Grunty the Wonderbaby. So yes we have a grunter too. Usually she grunts when she needs to burp or poop, but she's done it because she's refluxing or stuffy. A wedge pillow under her helped with the reflux and a bit with the stuffies.

Yup, it's totally normal. I've known several babies that make all kinds of grunting sounds at all times of the day.

Yes mine grunted and seemed really uncomfortable and couldn't lie flat without waking up. I eventually eliminated dairy and soy and that helped quite a bit.

Mine is a big grunter too, especially when lying down after eating. I raised the head of the co-sleeper mattress, which helped. DS is sound asleep, so it doesn't bother him any.

DD sounded like a baby dinosaur! I had no idea newborns were SO noisy at night! She is 3mos now and doesn't do it anymore
