Anyone here from Virginia? I'm looking certain TF products and wondering how hard it is to obtain certain things like milk???

Hi there! We're in Charlottesville. We get raw milk from Augusta Co and there are TONS of farms around. Where are you? Polyface Farm does deliveries all over the state...

I think Polyface has a 100 mile limit.

I would suggest you contact Bergey's Dairy in Va Beach, and perhaps they will know some of the network down there. They don't do raw milk, but they used to do door-to-door milk delivery when I was a kid, and they might be linked into the farm community down there. Oh, and their Colonial Custard is AMAZING.

I looked on EatWild, and found this farm in Suffolk(near Norfolk): http://www.fullquiverfarm.com/

And this one on RealMilk:

And I know these folks, although they're not a farm -- but they sell low-temp pasteurized products, and would likely be connected to the farm network in the area:

So fun to find these folks, because I had no idea they were doing this! I grew up with their kids.

Are you moving to VA or just visiting for a few days? That will help determine the easiest route for you.

I'm in Prince William County VA, and have access to pretty much anything I want, IF I become part of a co-op or buying club, and have dozens of farms to choose from. I'm part of a Yahoo group Northern Virginia Natural Living, and in the files database are farm listings.

But if you are here for a short time, that really isn't practical for you. In that case, it would be easiest to just go to Whole Foods and get some grass-fed organic milk.

Only there for a short time 2-6 months...we can't do pasteurized at all. Would the co-op consider temporary residents

I live in Virginia Beach and get raw milk from Full Quiver Farm in Suffolk. I'm part of a group that takes turns going out to the farm to pick up everyone's milk and drop it off at a host home (because the farm is about 45 minutes to an hour away). Their website has all the info on it. They're pretty flexible, so I'll bet you could join up for a short time only. I had to drop my share for a few months once, and they were okay with that. When I was ready, they let me right back in. I get a dozen eggs from them every week too and have bought their grass-fed beef. I'm also part of a buying club that is based out of Elizabeth City, NC. They have lots of TF things available that you can order online and pick up either at a host home in our area or at a monthly farmer's market. Oh, I forgot to say that you can also get raw milk through the Essentially Organic host farm in Elizabeth City. The farm is called Addie's Acres. They were just getting started recently, so I'm not sure how much availability there is for shares.
