Finished first quilt!

I lurked in this forum a bit last fall and got inspired to try a quilt for DS for Christmas. It took till January to finish, but want to show a pic:

It probably measures 3'x4', but haven't checked! My points and corners didn't come out exact, but I'm learning why!

Thanks to all you mamas for a starting point, I really like to quilt and want to do much more now!

Thanks, I've sewn on and off since I was 15, so I have that going for me. The stars are called the Friendship Star...I really like those. I'm starting a bear paw, but only using a 35" block in the middle for a huge blanket..Has anyone done a large block that size? I'm guessing it'd be easier than small pieces, but open to tips and tricks!
