Religious Exemption - Insurance Card?

I have an appt to file a religious exemption for my son on Wednesday. A friend of mine just finished the process for her daughter. She told me that they asked for her health insurance information. I don't know why they would need that and I'm uncomfortable giving that out. Has anyone ever heard of being asked to present your health insurance card in order to file an exemption?

I would think it would be illegal as well, I was very surprised when she said that. We're in South Carolina. It brought up all these thoughts in my mind of insurance discriminating against unvaccinated children. I definitely will not be presenting mine, but I'm wondering why it was even required in the first place.

Whatever they ask you to provide, be sure to get the request in the form of a letter. If they argue with providing a letter to request your insurance info, then it is for good reason, as they KNOW they arent legally allowed to.

Totally not allowed....just let them know you are aware of the law and no where does it require divulging health insurance information to acquire a religious exemption. I assume you are filing for school right?
