Tell me about the 8 or 9 month sleep regression

I think we might be starting it.

DD is almost 9 months and for the past 2 weeks or so has fought her bedtime many nights. While she's never STTN, I could at least count on her falling asleep fairly easily and staying that way for a good 2-3 hours before she woke up. Now, it seems like she can't fall asleep at the boob, or if she does, half the time she wakes up when I put her in her crib. And thinks it's playtime. Flops around, smiles a lot, zooms around the crib, babbles away, etc. And then it's another 45mins - 1 hour before she falls asleep again. Which of course throws off her whole sleep patterns for the next few days. She's never done this before now.

She isn't necessarily waking up any more at night (still 3-6+ times, I don't really count) and she does fall right back asleep after latching on (we co-sleep after I go to bed). I thought the 8 month sleep regression meant they started waking up more often at night... but maybe it's more than that?

I know she's on the verge of many milestones right now... she's almost crawling, almost going from sitting to tummy and vice versa, and today she figured out how to pull herself to standing. But she's been on the verge of figuring out crawling for like 2 months now, doing the rocking back and forth on her hands and knees thing.... why the sleep regression now?

What did/does the 8/9 month sleep regression look like for your LO's?
How long did it last?
How did you cope?

I'm trying not to get too frustrated but it's hard when I feel I'm doing everything "right" sleep wise and we keep seeming to take steps backwards!
