Nakey Butt and Chaffing

Ever since we started nakey butt time (at about 13 months, dd is now 19 months) it seems like maybe she is getting chaffing on her tush. Basically her skin is hot pink and dry looking from near where her waistband would be down to the (adorable) curve of her bottom. I'm not 100% sure that it is chaffing although I can't guess what else it could be. It is worse by the end of the day. I keep putting lotion on it, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Any thoughts?

It may just be that her skin is very sensitive and sitting on carpet or furniture or something is irritating it. Have you put her in little thin undies instead? I think she would get plenty of air flow that way, but it would protect her skin from irritants.

I do have several pairs of cloth trainers, and I use them occasionally, but the problem is she usually treats them just like diapers and pees in them rather than getting to the potty.

I noticed the same thing with my LO. Wearing something (pants, undies, trainers) helped. maybe a skirt or long shirt would do the trick?

hen my dd started to crawl she crawled by scooting everywhere on her bum and she got really chapped. Sounds a lot like what you are describing. We got her tiny undies from the ec store and that did the trick. She doesn't treat those like a diaper but does with her trainers.

The trainers that we have are waterproof so when she pees in them she feels wet but doesn't wet through her clothes. When she pees in her underwear it soaks everything and she does not like that especially when she has to change out of an outfit that she likes. I find that when she is wearing trainers she always has a miss, like it is permission to go in her pants but with underwear she misses occasionally just like nakey butt.
